6. Services Offered

  • 6.1. JDI is a professional service provider that facilitates the importation of vehicles from Japan to Australia. The following steps outline our services:
    • Step 1: The buyer contacts JDI, providing specifications for the desired vehicle. JDI offers a rough estimate of the import cost. If the buyer is satisfied, a non-refundable deposit of
      $1,000 AUD is required.
    • Step 2: JDI searches for vehicles meeting the buyer’s specifications and shares auction sheets and vehicle details with the buyer.
    • Step 3: The buyer selects one or more vehicles from the list, and JDI arranges inspections in Japan. Additional photos and videos from these inspections are shared with the buyer.
    • Step 4: The buyer chooses the vehicle(s) for bidding. JDI provides a final cost estimate before proceeding. This estimate includes the vehicle bid amount, auction fees, inland transport in Japan, storage in Japan, handling fees in Japan, deregistration in Japan, shipping from Japan to Melbourne, and transport charges from the Melbourne port to obtain a compliance certificate. The cost excludes Roadworthy Certificates (RWC), registration, and stamp duty.
    • Step 5: If JDI successfully wins the bid and purchases the vehicle, the buyer is required to pay 70% of the total amount within 2 business days. The remaining 30% is due when the buyer picks up the car in Melbourne.
    • Step 6: JDI manages all aspects of the import process, both in Japan and Melbourne, as detailed above.

7. Vehicle Re-Entry into Auction

  • 7.1. If the customer decides to re-enter a vehicle into an auction after a successful win, a cancellation fee of $1,200 AUD will be charged. This fee covers the labor and time involved in re-entry, as well as any associated costs such as inland transport, auction fees, and storage fees. If a profit is realized from the resale at auction, it will be evenly split between the customer and JDI.

8. Vehicle Condition and Inspection

  • 8.1. While JDI conducts an additional inspection of each auction vehicle through a professional vehicle inspector, we do not provide any warranties or guarantees regarding the vehicle’s condition. Buyers purchase vehicles at their own risk.
  • 8.2. Vehicles from dealer lots and auctions are not in JDI’s possession. The assessment of auction cars and the creation of auction sheets are carried out by staff employed by the auction houses and have no direct connection to JDI.

9. Price Quotes

  • 9.1. Any price quotes provided by JDI are estimates only. These estimates do not include Roadworthy Certificates (RWC), registration, or  stamp duty unless explicitly stated.

10. Use of Photos

  • 10.1. JDI retains the right to use photos taken for site content, publicity, and other reasonable purposes. However, JDI will not disclose buyer information, price, or specific vehicle details without prior consent from the buyer.

11. Changes to Terms

  • 11.1. JDI reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to review these Terms regularly to stay informed of any changes.
